Imagine waking up every morning feeling like you can take on the world..
..sometimes though, it can be overwhelming juggling work, family, and personal life.
There’s so much to do, so much to think about, so much to figure out; it’s hard to know where to begin sometimes.
Do you ever think to yourself, “am I crazy?” “What am I doing?”. A frequent terminology we often hear is “winging it.” This is true for many of us worldwide.
Ohana means Family – but what is OhanaMind? Well, OhanaMind puts the ‘Mindfulness’ into Family or, as we like to call it, Ohana.
Do you need a support network to bounce your thoughts off and get feedback and support to help you and your family?
Do you want a Live Q&A each month to answer the questions you’ve been desperate to ask? Such as; How can I appeal to a school? What is an Educational Health Care Plan, and what is its process? And Should I be concerned about my child?
Here at OhanaMind – we offer unbiased support, guidance, and tangible resources for everyone wanting to make a difference to their Mental Health and well-being.
Life can get complicated, and sometimes a little help from a friendly team of Mental Health professionals can make things better.
From all of us at OhanaMind
You’ve Got This!
Meet the team
My name is Michaela, and I’m the founder of OhanaMind.
I worked with Hertfordshire County Council for ten years, developing my expertise from within EYFS settings, mainstream primary and secondary schools, and alternative provisions (ESC/PRU).
Our team and I have a rooted passion for working with individuals and have created a positive platform in which individuals can bloom and unlock their full potentials.
I founded OhanaMind to support parents, families, and individuals with their Mental Health and ensure that those people never felt alone
My name is Jade Edwards I am a Behaviour Consultant for OhanaMind.
I have worked in Pupil Referral Units, Education Support Centres, Barnet Youth Offending Services and a charity supporting young people and their families called Art Against Knives.
I am trained in Youth Justice, Restorative Justice, Anger Management, Specific Learning Difficulties, STEP’s, Radicalisation and Extremism, Life Coach Diploma, Safeguarding and Child Protection.
My passion is to support people through whatever challenges they face and to go on a journey with them, to achieve their greatest potential.
Hi, my name is Lucy and I’m the Admin Manager for OhanaMind
I have worked within general admin roles since 2003, mainly within payroll and purchase ledger.
In 2011 following the birth of my first child I decided to become a stay at home mum. However, I suffered with anxiety and depression which meant I needed to seek help for how I was feeling, in time I started to heal but following the birth of my son in 2015 it started to happen again.
This time I sought the help of CBT therapists. So, to work with OhanaMind and their passion to help individuals with mental health and behavioural issues, is really something that I’m passionate about. I can fully appreciate the impact these feelings can have on individuals so this is my chance to give something back and help where I can.
Thankfully I can now say I’m a happy but busy mum of two! We spend our weekends at our allotment or out in nature with all it has to offer. I also enjoy photography and imparting what I know to my kids who are also started to develop a love of it too!
My name is Beth Sandler and am a Behaviour Consultant for OhanaMind.
I also work in Education, and have done so for 13 years, where I have built up a knowledge of SEND, Behaviour Support and Mental Health and Well-being.
I have a sound knowledge of supporting children and families with SEND and aspire to be able to provide effective strategies and advice whilst maintaining positive, professional and approachable relationships.
I pride myself on my ability to listen, empathise and support both children, young people and their families to enable positive and effective lines of communication and support.
My name is Jade Alsop and I do the Marketing and PR for OhanMind.
I have over ten years experience within the Marketing and Creative industry. After earning my degree in Design for Exhibitions and Museums in 2009 I started my creative journey working for an international artist at his flagship Gallery, eventually earning my place as Gallery Manager. I most recently worked as Communications Officer for the local government where my main focus was on Marketing, Graphics design and social media strategy. I currently work freelance under my company White Branch Creative, hoping to focus my efforts within the mental health and charity sectors.
As both a single mother and an adult woman living with Bipolar, I found what the OhanaMind team offers to its community, both invaluable and unique - I look forward to joining them on their wonderful journey, and helping those, like myself, who need support during these times.
